About Us

In November 2025, John and Susan Miedema purchased Liberty Jewelers from Christine Shafer who owned the store since 1981. The Miedemas are proud third generation owners of Rogers Jewelers, a small business that has been part of the Big Rapids community for over seventy years.

John has worked in the jewelry business for over thirty years, he has taken a variety of classes through Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and is a skilled jeweler, doing jewelry repair and custom design work. Susan joined the Big Rapids staff in June 2008, she has received her Accredited Jewelry Professional certification through G.I.A.
